Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and independent bench scientist to join our oncology team. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to multiple preclinical programs and the development of proximity-inducing small molecule drugs for cancer treatment. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams, present findings to the leadership team, and make a meaningful impact on the company’s oncology portfolio and on patient health. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in characterizing small molecule therapeutics across different cell-based assays and demonstrate dedication and urgency in a fast-moving biotech environment.
This position reports to the Principal Scientist, Oncology and will be located in New Haven, CT.
Principal Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
· Characterize small molecule compounds using a wide variety of cell-based assays, including but not limited to cell culture and maintenance, cell viability, apoptosis, western blotting, qPCR, ELISAs, reporter assays, and flow cytometry.
· Execute MOA-elucidating studies using genetic manipulation, transfection, viral transduction, CRISPR, and RNAi etc.
· Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot medium- and high-throughput cell-based assays to drive SAR decisions.
· Analyze, QC, and organize experimental data; communicate results to relevant, cross-functional teams and prepare presentations for company leadership.
· Efficiently maintain accurate records in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and internal databases.
Qualifications
- B.S. with 5+ years or M.S. with 2+ years of postgraduate experience in the biopharma industry.
- Highly skilled in mammalian cell culture with extensive hands-on experience in various cellular and molecular biology techniques.
- Previous design and experimental experience in cell line engineering is a plus.
- Ability to work independently to design and execute well-controlled, high-quality experiments, pay strong attention to details in experiments, interpret and summarize the results, and effectively communicate the results to the project team.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills in a collaborative, cross-functional, fast-paced team environment.
- A background and understanding in protein-protein interactions is a plus.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
- This role is primarily laboratory-based, so being on-site full-time is required.
