American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a circulating position requiring Level I Trauma experience for first-time travelers and an active IN or compact RN license.

Circulating RN role in the CVOR unit of a short-term acute care hospital (scrubbing not required)
-
Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
-
13-week assignment length
-
Cardiovascular surgical cases including heart and lung transplants, aortic dissections, ECMO, and aortic aneurysm repair
-
Uses Cerner charting system, experience preferred

On-call requirement of approximately 100 hours per 6 weeks, including one call weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning) per 6-week period

Required to float to other OR specialties within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility

Active IN or compact RN license required in hand prior to start (temporary IN license accepted)

BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted)

Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required

First-time travelers accepted only with previous Level I Trauma experience

Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred

Cardiovascular surgical skills required, including aortic aneurysm repair experience

Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation

2 supervisor references required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Perform circulating duties for complex cardiovascular surgical cases including transplants and aortic procedures

Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval

IN residents are considered local and will receive a reduced bill rate but remain eligible for this Surgical Services position

First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have Level I Trauma experience

Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
-
Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)

Periop/OR travelers are exempt from IU Health's broader restriction on IN-resident RNs working at their facilities
