Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the Emergency Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher) serves as the communication link between the citizens and the first responder and/or public safety agencies like police, fire, and EMS. The work involves utilization of multiple communications and technology platforms, like the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, the WEAPONS System, the National Criminal Information System, and many other information systems and technology platforms that are operated through the use of computer systems.
Employees considered for employment by the Fayette County 911 Center must pass a background check, including possessing a satisfactory driving record.
All employees of the Fayette County Office of Emergency Management and 911 Center must agree to sign a binding Non-disclosure and Confidentiality Agreement related to protecting secret, confidential or sensitive information and material.
This is a FULL-TIME position with benefits (Health Insurance, Life Insurance, and a Retirement Plan). Employees assigned to the Fayette County 911 Center work rotating shifts, which include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Employees also earn overtime pay and earn compensatory time when working on state and federal holidays as well as paid training.
