Design Technician- AutoCAD/Drafter
Experience preferred
NOT a remote position.
MUST possess a minimum 2 year degree and experience in drafting.
Position is located on-site in Louisville, KY
This position performs a variety of duties related to the design of gas and/or electric utilities on-site at a major gas & electric utility. The successful candidate will have an on-the-job training period under the wing of an experienced tech, after which they will work with little supervision. However, support is always available.
Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to
· assisting with layout and design engineering work for utility construction
· performing field work such as, measuring accurately with tape or wheel
· interpreting engineering drawings
· taking basic field notes
· occasionally driving locating stakes
· minor right-of-way clearing
· preparing cost estimates using client specific software
· and other similar tasks
Experience in design/drafting/AutoCAD work is required.
Essential Skills:
· Minimum of two-five years of experience in related position.
· Must be able to learn to make and read drawings and sketches.
· Must have proficient technical knowledge and skills, such as mathematics, and be able to handle difficult and multiple design assignments.
· Competent in computer/windows-based applications and possesses the ability and willingness to learn new software programs.
· Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job which may include: walking in various types of environments; long periods of sitting at computer; and other moderate physical activity.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving history required.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree required, or an Associates degree with related experience will also be considered.
