Job Overview
The Respiratory Therapist Consultant provides clinical expertise, guidance, and support to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) across Northern California. In this role, you’ll help ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based respiratory care while promoting regulatory compliance and improved patient outcomes. This is a highly independent, travel-based position (approximately 75%) where you’ll act as a trusted resource and advisor to facility teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the respiratory care team through hiring, training, coaching, and competency development
- Conduct rounds, monitor care standards, and collaborate with medical leadership on best practices
- Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations, while keeping the team ready for audits and inspections
- Manage budgets, staffing, and schedules to balance quality care with financial efficiency
- Partner with leadership on new programs, policies, and performance improvement initiatives
- Travel routinely to assigned facilities throughout Northern California to provide ongoing support.
Education, Qualifications, and Skills
- Active Respiratory Therapist License (required)
- Master’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Public Health, or related field and 5+ years of hospital/healthcare respiratory experience (3+ in management/supervision) OR Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field with equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of respiratory therapy experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting.
- Strong understanding of respiratory therapy equipment, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Strong leadership, administrative, and clinical management background.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
