Job Title: Pharmacy Assistant
Department: Pharmacy
Reports To: Pharmacy Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary:
Assist in various tasks or duties consistent with pharmacy assistant as outlined by the Washington State Pharmacy Commission and NOHN policies. Must be flexible and helpful in assisting the responsible pharmacist(s) to improve the operation of NOHN in support of the mission; to provide patient-centered, quality-driven, whole-person healthcare services, accessible to everyone in our community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Achieve Results
Support NOHN retail pharmacy operations
Able to ensure patient safety and provide excellent customer service
Aware of and adhere to all pharmacy policies and procedures
Interacts with customers and co-workers in a professional manner
Support compliance with the Health Resources and Service Administration Office of Pharmacy Affairs with regard to the 340B program
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, duties will include, but are not limited to:
Typing of prescription labels
Filing
Bookkeeping,
Pricing
Stocking
Medication delivery
Nonprofessional phone inquiries
Documentation of third-party reimbursements
Cash register operation
Operational Excellence
Utilize proper and consistent application of Lean methodologies and tools (kaizen, kanban)
Support compliance with all Washington State pharmacy requirements
Maintain effective, positive relationships with staff, peers, and management
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum high school diploma or GED, Registration as a Pharmacy Assistant with WA State Pharmacy Commission. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified and renewed on an annual basis. Valid WA State Driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
Experience: Customer service skills including phone and front counter skills.
Skills: Communicate effectively with peers, providers and patients. Attention to detail. Comply with all aspects to state regulations regarding retail pharmacy ancillary personnel utilization. Proficiency in EHR systems, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, cultural sensitivity.
Physical Demands:
Will require prolonged standing.
Must have the ability to do the following:
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Stand and/or sit for long periods of time, up to 8 hours.
Able to bend and twist body
Handle repetitive movements
Kneel or crouch as needed
Work Environment: Fast-paced community health center setting, potential exposure to infectious diseases, interaction with diverse patient population.
