Duties
- Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency
- Prepare treatment by sterilizing instruments, setting up supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with infection control standards
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including panoramic and cephalometric images, utilizing digital imaging technology and ensuring patient comfort
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry patients
- Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient assessments
- Collaborate seamlessly with the reception team to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and facilitate efficient clinic operations
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within orthodontics or pediatric dentistry
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and medical coding standards
- Hands-on experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to enhance workflow efficiency
- Familiarity with advanced dental technologies such as 3D scanners for precise orthodontic planning and treatment
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety
