Overview
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to promote oral health.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, , medical history review, and dental examinations.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing preventive strategies tailored to pediatric and general dentistry needs.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting treatment details thoroughly.
- Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
- Monitor patient safety by managing medical emergencies, assessing vital signs, and understanding medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with medical coding standards and legal requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state licensing requirements.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with exposure to pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments.
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for electronic health record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization techniques and infection control protocols aligned with healthcare standards.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
