The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the Behavioral Health Clinician (BARC Admissions) position with the Human Services Department - Broward Addiction Recovery Center.
The Human Services Department is seeking a compassionate and skilled Clinical Support Specialist to provide comprehensive client-centered services across hospital, community, and crisis-response settings. This role is vital in ensuring individuals and families receive timely, coordinated, and trauma-informed support throughout their treatment and recovery journey. The Clinical Support Specialist conducts clinical screenings, interviews, and biopsychosocial evaluations; facilitates individual and group counseling sessions; develops treatment plans; and maintains accurate, confidential documentation using electronic systems. The position coordinates care with community partners, service providers, law enforcement, and governmental agencies to ensure continuity of services. Additional responsibilities include completing home and community visits, responding to after-hours hotline calls, providing advocacy during sensitive examinations, supporting crisis intakes, and linking families to essential community resources such as housing, childcare, and food assistance. The specialist also assists clients with completing applications, prepares clear and timely reports, participates in staff meetings and training, and supports special projects as assigned. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to serving individuals facing substance use, trauma, and co-occurring challenges. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, gerontology, psychology, or closely related field. Requires one (1) year of social services casework, counseling or closely related field. Depending on the area of assignment, six (6) months of clinical case management may also be required.

Special Certifications and Licenses

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
Preferences

Doctoral Degree in social work, gerontology, psychology, counseling or closely related field (Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, Counseling Education).

Master's Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP), Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) or Other Qualified Professional through the Florida Certification Board

Licensed professional (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC)

1+ year performing as a Qualified Supervisor as approved by the Florida Department of Health (requiring periodic re-certification)
