Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMA
- Basic ophthalmic assessments to assist ophthalmologist in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Conduct optical experience tests, including visual acuity, refraction, and intraocular pressure measurements using specialized equipment
- Assist with clinical procedures, maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Manage medical records, ensuring accurate documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and billing codes for efficient medical billing and coding processes
Qualifications
- Proven experience in ophthalmology/optometry or medical office settings, with a strong foundation in patient care and clinical procedures
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and pediatrics when applicable
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and data management
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy at all times
- Ability to perform intake assessments and basic ophthalmic testing accurately
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages.
