The Night Security Associate at the River House at Odette’s is responsible to protect hotel guests, employees, and property. Patrols the hotel grounds, parking lot, lobby, restaurants/event spaces, and guest hallways to provide a sense of security to both staff and guests by being present. May escort guests off property after-hours if valet parking is unavailable late at night; assist management with disruptive guest interactions and emergencies. In some situations, it may call for the night security associate to work with the local police department for emergencies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Perform surveillance by patrolling hotel grounds, parking lots, lobby, restaurants, and hallways.
· Safely escort guests and hotel staff to and from hotel.
· Investigate disturbances reported by hotel staff and guests. Provides a calm demeanor and sense of safety and security in all circumstances to diffuse situations when necessary.
· Responds to emergency situations such as fire alarms, medical incidents, and disturbances.
· Offer friendly and warm greetings to all restaurant and hotel guests.
· Must be flexible and willing to work a varied schedule. Nights, weekends, and holiday shifts are required.
· Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Technical Skills: We require at least 1 to 3 years of experience, preferably in security operations, law enforcement, emergency management. TIPS/RAMP certified preferred, CPR certified preferred.
· Problem Solving Skills: knowledge of public safety and security, patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, the ability to work well with others, be thorough and pay attention to detail, thinking and reasoning skills for dealing with emergencies, concentration skills to stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
· Communication: Commitment to details both verbally and non-verbally and ability to encourage cooperative and consistent levels of communication with the front-end staff, the back-end staff, and management. Must understand instructions, read written company information and communicate with little or no additional direction.
· Interpersonal Relationships: Ability to adapt to different personalities of guests, staff and outside vendors without losing focus. Must possess high professional ethics and avoid extreme familiarity or conflicts with others.
· Conflict Management: Capacity to recognize problems when they arise and be able to resolve them appropriately by using good judgement, tact, and initiative according to company policy and procedure. Requires unbiased communication skills to handle all types of conflicts that will occur at all levels of supervision and the ability to negotiate effectively.
· Perform General Physical Activities: Ability to perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions that require minimal to moderate strength including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, handling materials.
· Flexibility: Must be available nights, weekends, and holidays. Also perform other duties as assigned.
