SEH Excavating is seeking an experienced Building Superintendent to oversee field operations for commercial construction projects with an emphasis on structural steel, pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), warehouse/distribution facilities, industrial buildings, and commercial construction projects.
The Superintendent will oversee daily job site operations from mobilization through project completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to contract requirements and quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader experienced in steel erection, subcontractor management, scheduling, and maintaining productive and safe construction sites.
- Coordinate and supervise all on-site construction activities from project startup through closeout
- Manage field operations involving structural steel erection, PEMB installation, concrete foundations, roofing systems, wall panels, MEP systems, and site work
- Work closely with Project Managers to establish baseline schedules and maintain critical path milestones
- Develop and maintain project look-ahead schedules and coordinate subcontractor sequencing
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely completion of work
- Monitor structural steel deliveries, erection activities, crane operations, and material logistics
- Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and contract requirements
- Conduct daily quality control inspections and ensure work complies with approved plans and specifications
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and maintain communication with ownership and project teams
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions and agencies
- Identify and proactively resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and schedule impacts
- Maintain daily reports, progress logs, manpower tracking, and documentation
- Issue notices of deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions when required
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite while enforcing OSHA standards with emphasis on steel erection and fall protection safety
- 5–10+ years of construction experience with a minimum of 2–5 years as a Superintendent or Lead Superintendent
- Experience with commercial steel structures, PEMB systems, industrial facilities, warehouses, or large-scale commercial projects
- Strong understanding of structural steel sequencing and commercial building systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and steel shop drawings
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and maintaining schedules
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred
