Position Overview
We are seeking a highly driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to own new business development across our retail channels: dispensaries, smoke shops, c-stores, and cultivation accounts. This role is centered on high-volume outbound prospecting, cold calling, and booking qualified meetings with buyers and decision-makers, then converting those meetings into first orders.
This is a true hunter role. You create opportunities from scratch, get buyers on the calendar, and land the first order. Once an account places its first order, it transitions to our account management team for ongoing growth, and you move on to the next door. You are paid for exactly the two things you control: qualified meetings held with buyers, and new accounts activated.
The ideal candidate thrives in a metrics-driven environment and is motivated by both performance and earning potential.
What You Will Do
- Execute a high volume of outbound activity: 70+ dials per day with 90+ minutes of daily talk time
- Book and hold 10+ qualified meetings per week with owners, buyers, and purchasing managers
- Identify, research, and engage prospective dispensary, smoke shop, c-store, and cultivation accounts
- Convert meetings into first orders and activate net-new accounts (12-15 per month at full ramp)
- Qualify prospects by uncovering needs, purchasing potential, and fit with our product line
- Log every call, meeting, and next step in HubSpot same-day; pipeline hygiene is non-negotiable
- Hand off newly activated accounts cleanly to the account management team after the first order
- Provide feedback on customer insights, market trends, and the competitive landscape

Base salary: $45,000, depending on experience
On-target earnings: approximately $63,000 - $80,000, with uncapped upside above plan
Variable compensation is direct and transparent. You earn two ways:
- Per qualified meeting held: a flat fee for every scheduled meeting you hold with a decision-maker, paid by channel ($35 per meeting). No-shows do not pay; held meetings do.
- Per account activated: a bounty on every net-new account that places a qualifying first order ($50-$150 by channel).
- Accelerator: meetings above monthly target pay 1.25x. There is no cap.
- Ramp: reduced targets for your first 90 days plus a first-month draw while you build pipeline.
- Full commission rates require maintaining the daily activity standards above; this plan rewards reps who do the work every day.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of B2B sales experience or a Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with outbound prospecting and cold calling
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to meet or exceed performance targets
- Resilience and a positive attitude in the face of rejection
- Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Preferred:
- Experience selling into dispensaries, smoke shops, convenience stores, or distributors
- Background in consumer packaged goods (CPG) or lifestyle brands
- Experience working in a metrics-driven, power-dialer sales environment
Work Environment
This is a fast-paced, results-oriented sales role with a heavy emphasis on outbound activity. Success in this position requires consistency, discipline, and a willingness to embrace daily cold calling as a core part of the job. Activity is tracked automatically through our dialer and CRM, so your numbers always speak for themselves.
