About the role:
In this role, you will contribute to the company’s success in an Operations Manager position that oversees work performed in field sampling operations, sample preparation and laboratory analysis. This includes monitoring of all job activities to ensure consistent quality and safety standards are achieved. Your duties will also include performing safety audits; reviewing time cards, lab and field reports; and monitoring the coordination of trains, barges, and other field sampling activities with the Field Supervisor. This position requires you to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with ASTM Standards and company policies. You will report to the Area Manager and be a part of the Brookwood operations.
Responsibilities:
- Confirm that new employee’s safety orientation has been completed prior to the introduction of their job duties
- Participate in employee development/trainings and performance evaluations for employees under your supervision by discussing goals and performance
- Conduct quality and safety meetings
- Review quality reports
- Build and maintain customer relationships
- Assist with the training of new admin, field, lab, prep personnel and cross training of existing employees
- Ensure that instructions are clearly communicated and fully understood by employees
- Complete all safety and other training programs required by the company with satisfactory proficiency including application of Lock Out / Tag Out procedures
- Comprehension of all safety hazards on the job site and ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE), relevant for tasks, is always worn by employees on shift
- Periodically perform quality and safety field checks for all shifts
- Maintain a current high-level understanding of the company’s policies and procedures in order to enforce, provide guidance, or clarification to employees under your supervision
- Maintain regular communication with the Area Manager regarding job status, progress, problems, personnel, etc.
- Assess all risks prior to performing the task at hand and work in a safe manner, reporting any accidents, near misses, and incidents to the Area Manager
- Record any incidents or near misses in HSI
- Maintain awareness of current developments and conditions affecting the quality procedures
- Be punctual and maintain an acceptable attendance record
Location and commitments:
- Full-time position with the primary location in Brookwood, AL
- Salaried position
- Day shift work may include weekends and holidays
- This position may require after hours work
- A commitment to quality service is a must
Technical and professional skills required:
- Proven experience (at least 5 years) in a management/supervisory position with emphasis on directing, planning, and leadership is a plus
- Read and write the English language, have legible handwriting, and be able to perform basic mathematics
- Basic knowledge and understanding of computer applications and software programs required to perform job duties such as Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent communication skills in order to communicate in a professional manner with company personnel, clients, observers, and terminal personnel
- Highly organized with the ability to lead by example and multi-task in a busy environment
- Ability to liaise with senior management and assist with investigations and deviations with minimum guidance
