Salary: $160,000 - $190,000 DOE
For more than 70 years, we have been a global leader in the design and manufacture of mission-critical aerospace lifting and handling systems for military and commercial aircraft. Our products include rescue hoists, cargo hooks, winches, and weapons-handling systems that support search-and-rescue, defense, and special-mission operations worldwide. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of advanced aerospace systems and products and serve as a key contributor throughout the entire product lifecycle. This role will drive system architecture, concept development, detailed design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and transition to production for complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems that deliver critical mission capabilities to our customers.
What You Will Be Doing

Lead the design and development of advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical aerospace systems, including hoists, winches, cargo hooks, and related mission-critical equipment

Develop system architectures, requirements, conceptual designs, and detailed engineering solutions while providing technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle

Perform engineering analyses, including stress, load, motion, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to evaluate product performance, reliability, and compliance with customer and industry requirements

Plan and execute prototyping, qualification, verification, and investigative testing activities, while preparing technical documentation, reports, and design artifacts to support development programs

Collaborate with manufacturing suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges, support production readiness, implement new materials and technologies, and ensure successful transition from concept through production and aftermarket support
What You Need for This Position

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) with experience in mechanical design, product development, systems engineering, and aerospace or defense programs

Experience designing and developing complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, including mechanisms, actuation systems, hydraulic equipment, hoists, winches, cargo hooks, or other mission-critical aerospace products

Proficiency with 3D CAD design and modeling tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or similar engineering platforms

Experience performing engineering analysis, including stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), as well as prototype development, testing, and product validation

Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality environments, configuration management, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and aerospace industry standards. Project management experience, including planning, budgeting, and cross-functional leadership, is preferred
