Duties
- Alter and tailor clothing items to achieve the perfect fit for customers, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing
- Operate sewing machines efficiently and safely to complete various sewing tasks
- Assist customers with fitting consultations and provide expert advice on garment adjustments
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored
- Follow detailed instructions and patterns to produce consistent, high-quality garments
- Use basic math skills to measure fabrics, calculate seam allowances, and ensure accurate sizing
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sewing, garment construction, or related fashion retail roles
- Proficiency with sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques
- Strong understanding of garment fitting and alteration processes
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and adjustments
- Knowledge of sewing machine maintenance and safety procedures is preferred
