Job Summary:
The professional regional delivery driver at River City Produce is responsible for transportation of freight to and from the RCP dock. The regional driver is expected to deliver freight to all RCP customers (regionally and occasionally locally) in accordance with established company procedure, following all safety guidelines while delivering in an efficient and timely manner. The professional driver who maintains a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) must also meet all DOT requirements and comply with all DOT regulations while on the road to include logging hours of service.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Must comply with policies as outlined in the RCP Fleet Safety Program.
Protect our brand awareness as a professional steward with our customers and in the driving public. Provide exceptional customer service to all RCP customers.
Transport and unload outbound freight to RCP customers in accordance with company procedure and DOT regulations, where applicable.
Transport inbound freight (backhauls) to RCP dock in accordance with company procedure and DOT regulations, where applicable.
Perform pre-delivery and post-delivery vehicle inspections of company vehicle.
Works in shipping department to assist with order selection and loading as needed.
Works in truck yard to assist with moving and refueling trucks applicable to your class type (Class A CDL)
Ensure that all driver logs and paperwork are completed accurately and timely as established through company protocol and submitted to the DOT Compliance Lead on a daily basis (or at minimum weekly basis).
Drivers delivering regionally (out of town) are required to perform the “check call” to Dispatch twice per day on a daily basis: before 9:00 a.m. and around 2:00 p.m. Drivers are always required to call in to RCP dispatch prior to leaving their last delivery for the day.
Perform other related tasks, as requested by manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2-3 years on the road experience.
Must be able to drive automatic transmission.
Working knowledge of safe driving practices and over the road procedures in accordance with DOT regulations.
Working knowledge of equipment troubleshooting and vehicle maintenance.
Working knowledge and ability to use manual and electric pallet jacks, hand dollies and other moving equipment.
Ability to perform general warehouse duties in the areas of shipping and order selection as needed.

Education and Skills:

Prior order selecting or warehouse experience required, produce or grocery experience preferred

Knowledge of produce commodities preferred

Demonstrated ability to operate a manual and/or electric pallet jack

High school diploma or GED required

Bilingual preferred, but not required (English/Spanish)

Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication skills in English required
- Must be able to sit up to 6-9 hours daily (total) with periodic sitting, bending, stooping and lifting as required by the duties of the job.
- Must be able to stand up to 5-8 hours daily (total) on concrete, asphalt, gravel or dirt while as required by the duties of the job.
- Must be available evenings, weekends and holidays, as required by business demands.
- Must be able to lift/carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds, independently without assistance.
- Must be able to push or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with assistance from pallet jack (manual or electric), hand dollies and other moving equipment while loading or unloading the truck.
- Must be able to read and write English in order to complete driver logs and other DOT and company related documents.
- Must be able to work in cold warehouse environments (33°- 56°F) as required by the job.
- Must be able to work in warm outdoor environment (up to 100°+ F) as required by the job.
- Must be alert and able to identify a safety hazard and report it immediately or, if directed, take corrective measures to prevent the safety hazard.
