Beautiful Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster, Massachusetts is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Housekeeping. This is a great position for someone who wants to make their mark with a service focused resort and golf club.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years previous Housekeeping or Rooms Division management experience in a resort or hotel setting, be able to coach/motivate a diverse group of team members, and be "guest-centric." We seek someone with a flexible schedule available both days and evenings and weekends are a must! Most of all this incumbent will need to have an eye for detail.
Summary:
The Assistant Director of Housekeeping will supervise, train and inspect the performance of all staff within the housekeeping department, ensuring that all procedures are completed to hotel standards to ensure guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate and administer the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department.
- Direct team members toward accomplishing daily goals and ensuring that all hotel and resort accommodations are fully cleaned by the standard check-in times of 3:00PM and 4:00PM
- Constantly communicate pertinent departments as to the status of projects or assignments that will directly impact the guest experience.
- Responsible for the efficient scheduling, according to budget, and to closely watch the daily forecast for either increases or decreases in occupancy; responsible for amending schedule as appropriate.
- Prepare, coordinate and follow-up on all repair requests to the engineering department.
- Inspect work of all members of the housekeeping department, ensuring maintenance of standards to our prescribed levels in all controlled areas.
- Prepare and initiate on-going correct cleaning of carpets, drapes, windows and upholstery.
- Handle all guest and employee concerns with tact and follow-up.
- Make recommendations to the Executive Housekeeper on preventative maintenance and renovations.
- Complete all employee evaluations by the last month in which they are due.
- With the engineering department, maintain and implement resort-wide preventative maintenance program.
- Develop and maintain housekeeping action plan.
- Attend and participate in all required resort or divisional meetings, including pre-convention meeting with clients.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of all kitchen supplies/wares in resort villas; discard and replace accordingly.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of blankets, bedspreads, pillows, terry and bed linens; discard and replace as needed.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of guest requested items such as rollaway bed and cribs, discard and replace accordingly.
- Watch market for improvements of cleaning agents and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Ensure that all employees are trained on the proper usage of cleaning agents and materials.
- Inspect all linen and closet storage areas regularly for tidiness and achievement of par levels.
- Develop, implement and modify as needed an ongoing housekeeping training program for all new housekeeping employees.
- Develop and implement on-going training programs in which employees are retrained or develop new skills on a monthly basis.
- Complete disciplinary action, hiring and termination of employees in a timely manner with the approval of the Executive Housekeeper and the human resource department.
- Develop and implement a housekeeping incentive program; monitor its effectiveness in ultimately increasing guest satisfaction and improving performance.
- Serve as liaison between housekeeping vendors and the hotel to control costs.
- Serve as liaison between hotel and laundry contractors to control the correct handling of all guest laundry and uniforms.
- Follow established rooms division standards for telephone etiquette, proper email/voicemail use and radio/paper sign-out.
- Meet regularly with supervisory staff to ensure clear communication and achievement of standards.
- Responsible for correctly handling all PSA’s for the department.
- Responsible for completing all paperwork for obtaining supplies.
- Control and provide availability of all supplies for the department; maintain current inventories of all items.
- Conduct departmental of positional meetings on a monthly basis.
- Responsible for the control of keys and pages issued to and stored within the housekeeping department.
- Exhibit a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with guests and fellow employees.
Key Requirements:
Physical Standards: Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds.
- Five years progressive experience in the hospitality industry.
- Knowledge of public area management.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling and following OSHA requirements.
- Ability to provide legible communication.
- Prior experience in payroll management.
- Ability to control expenses in accordance with the budget.
- Prior experience developing and maintaining a housekeeping training program.
- Ability to motivate all team members.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and prior PMS experience.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
