Duties
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic techniques to collect specimens accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation in compliance with protocols.
- Assist patients by explaining procedures clearly in both Spanish and English to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by adhering to infection control standards, including proper specimen handling and disposal practices.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding specimen status or any issues encountered during collection.
- Demonstrate proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and physiology knowledge necessary for accurate specimen collection and patient care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work or phlebotomy, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Certification in phlebotomy or relevant medical laboratory certification preferred
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is required to facilitate effective communication with diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge in blood sampling methods (venipuncture), and aseptic technique is essential.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely when handling supplies or specimens; physical stamina for standing, walking, and performing procedures over extended periods.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on patient care, including sensitivity to pediatric and geriatric needs.
