Position Summary
The Foreman is a working field leader responsible for leading a crew and overseeing the safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of assigned telecommunications construction projects.
This position works alongside the crew while coordinating daily field activities, assigning work, monitoring safety and quality, and ensuring projects are completed according to customer requirements, construction drawings, company standards, and project schedules.
The Foreman serves as the primary field leader for the crew and plays an important role in developing technicians, communicating project needs, and resolving issues that arise in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field technicians during installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade projects.
- Coordinate daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members based on project requirements and individual skill levels.
- Perform hands-on field work alongside the crew, including tower climbing and telecommunications equipment installation.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to Project Group and customer quality standards.
- Conduct and participate in required safety meetings, job hazard assessments, and pre-job planning.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment, fall protection, rigging equipment, and other required safety systems.
- Review construction drawings, scopes of work, site plans, and customer specifications before and during project execution.
- Monitor project progress and communicate schedule, material, equipment, or site-related issues to management.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality before leaving the job site.
- Train, coach, and mentor technicians on proper procedures, safety expectations, and industry best practices.
- Ensure company vehicles, tools, equipment, and job sites are maintained in a safe and professional manner.
- Complete required field documentation, reports, timekeeping, and project information accurately and on time.
- Maintain professional communication with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and other Project Group employees.
- Follow all company policies and applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on project and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of telecommunications construction or related field experience, including previous crew leadership, Lead Technician, or Foreman experience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, coach, and hold crew members accountable.
- Experience with wireless telecommunications equipment, cabling, fiber optics, and related installation practices.
- Comfortable climbing and working at heights while using required fall-protection equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, scopes of work, and site documentation.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with crew members, management, and customers.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required by project needs.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, nights, or holidays when project schedules require it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Foreman experience within the wireless telecommunications or cell tower construction industry.
- Experience with tower rigging and hoisting operations.
- Experience performing tower modifications, equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with customer-specific telecommunications construction standards.
- Relevant industry safety or technical certifications.
