At Fountain View at Logan Square, we believe that nutritious, thoughtfully prepared meals are essential to residents' health, comfort, and quality of life. Guided by our core values of Passion, Respect, and Excellence, the Food Service Supervisor plays a key leadership role in the daily operations of our dietary department. Working closely with the Food Service Director, this position helps ensure high-quality meal service, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional dining experience for every resident.
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the dietary department to ensure residents receive nutritious, high-quality meals and excellent service.
Lead, coach, and support dietary team members while fostering teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
Assist with staff scheduling, training, orientation, and performance management.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and regulatory standards.
Monitor food preparation, meal service, and tray accuracy to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to therapeutic and specialized diets.
Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and proper food storage to minimize waste and maintain adequate supplies.
Address resident concerns and feedback promptly, helping to enhance resident satisfaction and the overall dining experience.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Promote a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming kitchen and dining environment.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the dietary department and resident care.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
ServSafe Certification required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe after hire).
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred, but not required.
Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience in food service, preferably in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, senior living community, or other healthcare setting.
Experience working in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and/or multi-unit food service operation is strongly preferred.
Front-of-house dining experience with a strong focus on hospitality, customer service, and resident satisfaction preferred.
Experience managing catered events and special functions, including planning, execution, and service coordination, preferred.
Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, infection control, therapeutic diets, and dietary operations.
Experience with food ordering, inventory management, receiving, and cost control practices.
Strong leadership, coaching, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, work collaboratively, and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
