What You’ll Do
As an After School Culinary Counselor, you will:
- Lead and supervise a group of children (~Grades 2-6) in a safe, supportive environment
- Monitor and maintain food safety, kitchen safety, and effective classroom management
- Guide students through daily recipes with enthusiasm and clear instruction
- Foster confidence, independence, and curiosity in young cooks
- Communicate consistently with management
- Manage time efficiently to conduct classes according to Food Explorers standards
- Adapt calmly and professionally to changing situations
- Serve as a positive role model and support children’s skill development
Schedule & Commitment
This is a part-time position following the school calendar starting in September, with classes in towns such as New Canaan, Fairfield, Darien and Rigdefield. Food Explorers classes generally run between 3-6pm for an hour each day. Food Explorers requites a minimum class commitment of two days per week, with up to five days a week available.
