Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Marine Upholstery & Canvas Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting, repairing, and installing high-quality upholstery and canvas products for boats and marine vessels. Your expertise will help enhance the aesthetic appeal, comfort, and durability of marine interiors and exteriors, ensuring customer satisfaction and safety. Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, sew, and assemble marine upholstery and canvas components using hand tools, sewing machines, and power tools.
- Repair or replace damaged upholstery, canvas covers, bimini tops, enclosures, cushions, and seating areas with precision and attention to detail.
- Install custom-made upholstery and canvas products onto boats, ensuring proper fitment and secure fastening.
- Use auto restoration techniques to refurbish or restore vintage or damaged marine fabrics and materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace by properly handling tools and materials while adhering to safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship.
- Assist in the selection of appropriate fabrics, vinyls, threads, and other materials based on project specifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with hand tools, sewing machines, power tools, and assembly processes within manufacturing or custom upholstery environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of marine upholstery materials such as vinyls, fabrics, foam padding, and weather-resistant textiles.
- Willingness to learn is the most important qualification. We will train the right person to develop strong sewing skills and operate industrial sewing machines efficiently
- Experience in auto restoration or related fields is a plus.
- Ability to interpret measurements accurately.
- Excellent manual dexterity with an eye for detail to ensure precise stitching and fitting.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and understand client needs.
