Easton Utilities is seeking an Infrastructure Locator to identify and mark underground utility facilities prior to excavation activities, helping to protect critical infrastructure and ensure public safety. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of utility distribution systems, locating techniques, and mapping technologies, along with a commitment to accuracy, safety, and responsive customer service in a fast-paced field environment.
Infrastructure Locator I
HIRING RANGE: $30.96 hourly or higher depending upon experience
JOB OBJECTIVE: To inform members of the public, contractors, utilities, locators, and other persons or entities who would be involved in planned or emergency excavation regarding underground facility identification. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an Apprentice Infrastructure Locator or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Maryland’s utility locating legislative laws and all the Easton Utilities utility distribution systems.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Knowledge of utility and roadway construction and Easton Utilities mapping systems.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Regular on-call duty required. Must reside within a 30-mile radius of Easton with a maximum of 60 minutes between the initial call and arrival on-site.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have high school diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years of related experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Driving, bending, walking long distances, digging, lifting up to 100lbs, climbing steps, and the physical use of all locating equipment. Must follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE at all times. Must have physical ability to frequently ingress underground manholes and vaults.
Job Family and Hiring Ranges
Candidates may qualify for placement within the Infrastructure Locator job family based on experience and certifications.
Apprentice Infrastructure Locator: $25.80/hr. or higher depending upon experience
Infrastructure Locator I: $30.96/hr. or higher depending upon experience (minimum 3 years’ experience as Apprentice Infrastructure Locator)
Infrastructure Locator II: $37.16/hr. or higher depending upon experience (3 years working as Infrastructure Locator I)
