Prosperity Social & Community Development Group, Inc. (PSCDG) is seeking a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Prevention Specialist to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will educate and empower youth by delivering evidence-based substance use prevention education in schools and community settings throughout Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. Prevention Specialists work directly with elementary, middle, and high school students, facilitating interactive classroom lessons that promote healthy decision-making, build life skills, and increase awareness of the risks associated with alcohol, tobacco, vaping, marijuana, prescription drug misuse, and other substances.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, is comfortable speaking in front of groups, and is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of youth. As a Prevention Specialist, you will serve as a mentor, educator, and advocate, helping students develop the knowledge and confidence to make healthy choices and resist peer pressure.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate evidence-based substance use prevention curricula in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms.
- Educate youth on the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, vaping, marijuana, prescription drug misuse, and other substances through engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
- Promote healthy decision-making, goal setting, communication skills, conflict resolution, and peer resistance strategies.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and discussion.
- Build positive relationships with students, school staff, parents, and community partners.
- Conduct classroom presentations, workshops, assemblies, and community education events focused on prevention and wellness.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, program documentation, and evaluation data.
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and community organizations to ensure successful program implementation.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required prevention training.
- Represent PSCDG professionally within schools and the community.
Qualifications
- Experience working with youth in educational, nonprofit, behavioral health, prevention, or community settings preferred.
- Strong classroom management and group facilitation skills.
- Excellent public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Passion for mentoring and educating youth while promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Ability to engage students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole) is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Reliable transportation to travel to assigned schools throughout Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
