Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, including group homes and long-term care facilities. The DSP will assist clients with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and clean environment while adhering to all relevant regulations, including HIPAA.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning to meet dietary needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space for clients.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being.
- Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health to the appropriate personnel.
- Support clients in accessing community resources and participating in recreational activities.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations while providing care.
- Support clients on job sites.
- Assist clients on their job.
- Communicate with supervisors/coworkers.
Experience
- Previous experience in a nursing home or group home setting is preferred.
- Background in social work or related fields is a plus.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality is essential.
- Skills in meal preparation and cooking are beneficial for assisting clients with their dietary needs.
- A caring attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are critical for success in this role.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $18.00 per hour
