Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, DOT codes, and company policies to transport cargo efficiently.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and routine vehicle maintenance checks to ensure safety standards are met before each journey.
- Respond quickly and effectively to traffic changes, road conditions, and emergency situations, including emergency stop procedures and emergency response protocols for transportation.
- Communicate clearly with clients, or dispatchers using strong English language skills; provide excellent customer service and assistance as needed.
- Maintain accurate eld logs of trips, mileage, and incident reports; adhere to all safety regulations including defensive driving practices and vehicle codes.
- When eld's are down paper logs ae required to be filled out properly.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a focus on safety and reliability.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, emergency response procedures for transportation, and vehicle operation standards.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and adapt driving strategies accordingly.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
- Experience in writing skills is advantageous for training and/or documentation purposes.
Pay
- This position is for over-the-road and local runs as needed. OTR runs will pay 30% of weekly total, and local will be paid hourly.
