We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our property management team located in Uptown Dallas. The ideal candidate will perform accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties, while supporting the Property Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly financial statements, and assisting with budgeting and operational reporting. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with property management financial operations.

Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned property portfolios, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations in a high transactional volume environment
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for property owners and stakeholders
- Under the direction of the Property Controller, execute the financial reporting and cash management including journal entries, financial statement preparation, and daily bank reconciliations for the property portfolio
- Oversee tenant billing, rent rolls, CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, and lease-related accounting
- Process and review property-level budgets and variance analyses
- Manage cash flow, including owner distributions and reserve account monitoring
- Coordinate year-end audits and tax preparation with external accountants
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Mentor and review work of junior accounting staff
- Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and onsite property management teams to solidify the client relationship
- Assist with system improvements and process efficiencies
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in property management or real estate
- Proven experience with property management/accounting specific software platforms, particularly Yardi and AppFolio, or similar property management systems
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with CAM reconciliations and lease accounting
