Inside Technical Sales Representative
Position Summary
The Inside Technical Sales Representative is responsible for supporting business growth through customer relationship management, outbound prospecting, technical product support and sales development activities. This role serves as a key point of contact for customers, distributors and internal sales teams while supporting territory growth initiatives, quote follow-up, CRM management and overall sales operations.
This position works collaboratively with outside sales representatives, customer service, marketing and business development teams to drive revenue growth, strengthen customer partnerships and support overall company objectives. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, customer-focused and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume sales environment.
The Inside Technical Sales Representative reports directly to Customer Experience Manager.
Core Responsibilities
1. Sales Development & Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers within assigned territories and market segments
- Generate new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, inbound lead follow-up, marketing campaigns, cold calling and email outreach
- Qualify customer needs and identify opportunities for product recommendations, up-selling and cross-selling
- Follow up on open quotes and sales opportunities to support quote-to-order conversion
- Conduct outbound calls to support product promotions, vertical market initiatives and territory growth objectives
- Partner with outside sales representatives to support strategic account development and territory management
- Maintain consistent communication with customers regarding pricing, availability, lead times and product information
- Meet quarterly sales performance metrics and territory growth objectives
2. Technical Sales Support & Customer Experience
- Provide technical product support and application guidance to customers.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries, concerns and technical questions
- Assist in resolving customer issues by coordinating with customer service, warehouse and operations teams
- Support transferred customer calls and escalated inquiries as needed
- Maintain a professional, solutions-oriented approach in all customer interactions
- Build long-term customer partnerships through responsiveness, follow-through and service excellence
3. CRM Management, Reporting & Sales Operations
- Maintain accurate CRM records including customer interactions, opportunities, quotes and sales activities
- Track pipeline activity, sales progress and territory performance metrics
- Support sales reporting initiatives and maintain organized sales documentation
- Coordinate with marketing and sales leadership on campaign follow-up and lead management
- Assist with maintaining sales processes, workflows and departmental procedures
- Participate in sales meetings, product training and ongoing development initiatives
4. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to support company growth objectives
- Identify process improvement opportunities related to sales support, customer communication and workflow efficiency
- Support regional sales initiatives and provide coverage assistance when needed
- Participate in product and systems training to strengthen technical and operational knowledge
- Contribute positively to team culture and operational success
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in inside sales, technical sales, customer service or related field preferred
- Experience in industrial, electrical, mechanical or component sales is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude or technical product knowledge preferred
- Strong verbal, written and phone communication skills
- Strong customer relationship-building and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls and managing active sales pipelines
- Experience with CRM systems and sales tracking tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
- Professional demeanor with the ability to remain composed under pressure

Physical & Time Requirements
- Full-time onsite position (40 hours per week)
- Frequent computer, CRM and phone usage throughout the workday
- Primarily desk-based work environment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
