Position Overview
Chesapeake Turf is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to support our Controller and help manage the day-to-day accounting and administrative functions of our company.
This position requires someone who is highly organized, accurate, dependable, and comfortable working with a substantial volume of financial data. The right candidate will have bookkeeping and accounting experience, be comfortable working independently, and understand the importance of completing routine financial tasks accurately and on time.
Experience with Sage accounting software is a strong plus, but candidates with extensive experience using other accounting systems are encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Invoice entry, coding, and processing
- Customer billing and payment posting
- Bank account and credit card reconciliations
- Vendor account reconciliation and statement review
- General ledger data entry and account maintenance
- Payroll entry and payroll-related recordkeeping
- Maintaining vendor, customer, and employee records
- Supporting month-end accounting and financial record preparation
- Maintaining organized electronic and paper accounting records
- Communicating with vendors, customers, employees, and management regarding accounting matters
- Assisting the Controller with additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed
Because Chesapeake Turf is a construction company, experience with construction accounting, job costing, purchase orders, subcontractors, equipment expenses, or project-based accounting is especially valuable.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
