OVERVIEW:
The Family Medicine Physician serves as a primary care provider for patients across the age and gender spectrum, offering a wide range of healthcare services that place a strong emphasis on wellness and prevention while also providing high-quality chronic disease management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide and manage direct patient care including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment
- Triage patients to differentiate between immediate and less urgent care
- Order diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests and interpret test results
- Perform minor outpatient surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding adherence to prescribed therapeutic regimens, with an emphasis on preventative care and disease management
- Communicate with patients regarding testing results, follow-up care, and additional information
- Complete clinical documentation of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues through patient encounter in EMR system that is accurate, high quality, and completed in a timely manner
- Participate in clinical meetings and compliance trainings
- Serve as a supervising physician for mid-level providers
- Participate in required CME courses and perform CME credits to maintain license
- Should be available to work extended hours, including some weekends
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a family medicine residency program.
- Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine (Board certification preferred).
- Valid and active medical license to practice in the state of Illinois.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (if applicable).
- Experience with electronic medical records and proficiency with various computer based applications
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time, as well as to make balanced and objective decisions with the highest degree of integrity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluency in additional languages strongly preferred (Spanish, Arabic)
