Job Overview
As a member of our Preconstruction team - most of whom have been with the firm for decades - you will play a key role in developing detailed cost estimates from the earliest conceptual stages through completed construction documents, helping clients and project teams align scope, budget, and expectations. Responsibilities:
o Review drawings, specifications, and narratives to prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns.
o Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates with clear assumptions and inclusions.
o Assist in soliciting, evaluating, and leveling subcontractor and vendor proposals for completeness and competitiveness.
o Coordinate with design teams and internal staff to clarify scope gaps and identify constructability issues.
o Maintain organized estimate clarifications, inclusions/exclusions, and design development logs.
o Assist with value engineering analyses to identify cost-saving alternatives and design efficiencies.
o Utilize and/or update cost databases, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing information.
o Support development of bid summaries, proposal narratives, and GMP packages.
o Collaborate with project controls to align cost, schedule, and contingency assumptions.
o Assist in presentations and pursuit deliverables for new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
o 2+ years of estimating experience within the commercial construction industry or related.
o Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
o Strong understanding of building systems, assemblies, and construction sequencing.
o Proficiency with estimating software (Onscreen, ACC, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Excel.
o Facility with AI based quantity survey or estimating tools desired
o Ability to interpret drawings, perform takeoffs, and communicate cost impacts clearly.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
o Familiarity with GMP, design-assist, and negotiated delivery methods preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
