RN Charge Nurse - Dansville Residential Clinic/ Hornell IP Clinic
FT (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday through Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm
$4,000 Sign on Bonus
Location: Dansville, NY 14437 and Hornell , NY 14843
The Charge Nurse provides and oversees integrated nursing care within inpatient, residential, and outpatient treatment settings, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care that addresses clients’ physical, behavioral, and mental health needs. This role supervises nursing staff and coordinates medical services with the interdisciplinary team in compliance with OASAS and other regulatory standards. This position supports the Geneseo OP and Dansville OP Clinics.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides integrated health monitoring and nursing care using physician-approved protocols.
- Conducts ongoing assessments, monitors client progress, and responds to changes in condition.
- Administers medications safely, monitors effectiveness and side effects, and ensures accurate documentation.
- Supports clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.
- Participates in admissions, discharges, and care transitions.
- Collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners, and the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Develops and updates individualized nursing care plans.
- Responds to medical and psychiatric emergencies.
- Oversees medication management systems and controlled substance inventories.
- Promotes health education related to wellness, harm reduction, and recovery.
- Ensures infection control compliance and maintains accurate EMR documentation.
- Participates in treatment team meetings and on-call rotation for bedded programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides clinical supervision and oversight of nursing staff.
- Assigns duties, manages schedules, and ensures adequate staffing.
- Reviews timecards and time-off requests.
- Supports hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development.
- Conducts performance evaluations and addresses performance concerns.
- Facilitates monthly unit meetings.
Secondary Job Functions
- Maintains compliance with confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness.
- Maintains QHP status and performs other assigned duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorder treatment.
- Understanding of integrated care, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and MAT.
- Strong leadership, clinical judgment, crisis intervention, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in EMR documentation and privacy regulations.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to use a computer, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, and respond to emergencies.
- Work occurs in a 24/7 integrated care setting with adherence to a drug- and alcohol-free workplace.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Current NYS RN license in good standing.
- Minimum two years of relevant clinical experience and two years of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
