Fiber Technician
Location: Asheville, NC
Pay Range: $23/hr
We're looking for a Fiber Technician to help with installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber and coax connections for residential customers. This includes setting up equipment, checking signals, running cables, and handling basic repairs in the field.
Main Responsibilities
- Install, splice, and terminate fiber and coax lines (indoor/outdoor).
- Test connections and fix service issues when needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and respond to outages.
- Keep simple records of work completed and equipment used.
- Provide friendly, professional support during customer visits.
- Follow all safety guidelines while working on ladders, poles, and roofs.
- Travel locally each day to different service locations.
Skills & Requirements
- Able to work independently and manage daily tasks.
- Comfortable working outdoors and on different types of terrain.
- Able to lift 80 lbs and climb 28–36 ft ladders.
- Ability to work at heights and in tight spaces.
- Basic understanding of IP networks and common home networking devices.
- Familiarity with tools used in cable or fiber installation.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Able to pass standard background and drug checks.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience with fiber, coax, or FTTH is a plus.
Schedule
This role may include weekends, evenings, or overtime depending on customer needs.
