We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Medical Insurance Verification & Billing Specialist to join our growing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice. This role is ideal for an experienced healthcare professional who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure patients receive accurate insurance information and timely authorizations for treatment.
The ideal candidate will have experience with medical insurance verification, prior authorizations, CPT coding support, and complex surgical cases, particularly orthognathic (jaw) surgery and other medically necessary oral and maxillofacial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify medical insurance benefits and eligibility for surgical procedures
- Assist with CPT, ICD-10, and procedure coding accuracy
- Obtain and manage medical prior authorizations
- Coordinate authorizations with hospitals, surgery centers, and outside facilities
- Manage orthognathic surgery and medically necessary procedure authorizations
- Track authorization statuses and ensure timely follow-up
- Review insurance requirements and documentation for claim submission
- Communicate with providers, clinical staff, and insurance carriers regarding coverage and authorization needs
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within practice management systems
- Support billing operations and claim resolution as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical insurance verification and/or medical billing required
- Experience with oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery, ENT, plastic surgery, or other surgical specialties strongly preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and insurance authorization processes
- Experience obtaining authorizations for orthognathic surgery and other complex medical procedures preferred
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working with electronic medical records and practice management software
