Overview
Join our team as an Assistant Code Enforcement Officer and become a vital part of maintaining safe, compliant, and well-regulated communities. Duties
- Assist in inspecting construction sites, buildings to ensure compliance with local building codes, environmental laws, and safety regulations.
- Perform on-site structure and nuisance inspections and conduct follow up reviews.
- Help prepare case files and assist in providing official testimony before the Codes Board, Board of Zoning Adjustment, and District or Circuit Court.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, violations, and corrective actions, .
- Help interpret building plans for code compliance, issue construction permits and inspect new building projects.
- Collaborate with contractors, property owners, and government officials to resolve compliance issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and follow-up actions in accordance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support and respond to public pans regarding code requirements and respond to emergency structural damage caused by storms or vehicles.
- Other duties assigned.
Skills
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent.
- Two years of responsible construction experience (e.g., foreman) requiring plan reading, or experience in design/drafting for an architect or engineer with construction sites or related fields enhances understanding of construction practices and safety protocols.
- May substitute an Associate's Degree in Design/Construction field, or Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Fire Science, or Building Technology for required experience.
