We are looking to provide summer internship opportunities for 7 interested AoIT students, two of whom have served in their role in previous summers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- 1:1 Device Preparation: Assist with configuring, imaging, testing, and deploying 1:1 student and staff devices to ensure readiness for the upcoming school year.
- Hardware Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair computer and network hardware under the guidance of district technicians, with the direct opportunity to earn an Acer Certification.
- Classroom Tech Deployment: Assist with updating, testing, and readying classroom instructional technology (e.g., interactive displays, projectors, and peripherals).
- Inventory & Surplus Management: Help maintain accurate summer inventory logs, organize technology storage areas, and process surplus equipment for life cycle management.
Special Project Support: Assist with large-scale summer IT initiatives. Notably this year, interns will help manage the technical logistics of relocating a large number of district staff due to construction, ensuring their temporary workspaces are fully connected and operational.

Job Qualifications
Essential Skills and/or Experience:
- Program Alignment: Must be a current Northport-East Northport High School student actively pursuing internship hours for the Academy of Information Technology (AoIT) portfolio.
- Technical Aptitude: Foundational understanding of computer hardware, software applications, and basic networking concepts.
- Core Competencies: Strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to follow technical instructions and safety protocols.
- Professionalism: Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift, carry, and move standard technology equipment (such as desktop computers, monitors, and boxes of devices) to support district-wide relocation projects.
Preferred Skills and/or Experiences:
- Prior Experience: Previous experience troubleshooting personal electronics, school devices, or home networks is a plus.
- Organizational Skills: Familiarity with basic spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets) for data entry and asset tracking.
- Communication Skills: Good interpersonal skills, as interns will occasionally interact with district staff to help set up technology in temporary workspaces.
