Logistics Associate – Machine Shop (Day Shift)
Position Summary
The Logistics Associate supports daily operations in a fast-paced machine shop by managing the flow of materials, parts, and finished goods. This role is responsible for receiving, staging, inventory control, and shipping while maintaining an organized, efficient, and safe shop environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and takes pride in accuracy and cleanliness.
**Shifts schedule is 4 - 10 hour days**
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming materials, tooling, and supplies
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips
- Stage raw materials, work-in-process, and finished parts for production
- Move materials between departments to support machining operations
- Package and ship finished machined components to customers
- Prepare shipping documentation including packing lists, labels, and bills of lading
- Coordinate with carriers for pickups and deliveries (UPS, FedEx, LTL, etc.)
- Track and update inventory and shipping transactions in the ERP system
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy
- Label, identify, and properly store materials and parts
- Coordinate outside processing shipments and track returns
- Maintain organized storage areas for raw material, WIP, tooling, and finished goods
- Maintain a clutter-free shop environment by keeping aisles, work areas, and storage locations clean and organized
- Support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment
- Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing support roles
- Self-starter with the ability to identify work that needs to be done and act without constant supervision
- Ability to read job travelers, packing slips, and basic production documentation
- Basic computer skills (ERP/MRP experience a plus)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
- Forklift certification (or willingness to be trained)
- Familiarity with FIFO, lot tracking, and traceability requirements
Work Schedule
- 4x10 day shift schedule (Monday – Thursday)
- Overtime may be available as business needs require
Work Environment
- Manufacturing / machine shop setting
- Exposure to noise, metal parts, forklifts, and shop equipment
- Shop is heated and cooled but there is occasional work outdoors unloading and loading trucks.
- PPE required (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, etc.)
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
