Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technician performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and dignity throughout the imaging process. This position works collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical staff to support high-quality patient care in an outpatient community health setting. The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for maintaining imaging equipment, adhering to quality standards, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Ultrasound technologists are responsible for operating diagnostic imaging equipment, preparing patients, obtaining high-quality diagnostic images, documenting findings, maintaining equipment, and communicating urgent findings to providers when appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Operate ultrasound imaging equipment to perform a variety of diagnostic procedures
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional and compassionate demeanor.
- Accurately capture high-quality images while adhering to established protocols and safety standards such as aseptic technique.
- Review images for clarity and completeness; make adjustments as needed to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to interpret findings and provide essential information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all medical imaging equipment; troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to medical imaging procedures, including infection control practices and patient confidentiality standards.
- Stay current with advancements in sonography techniques, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and women's health diagnostics through ongoing education.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification required.
- Additional specialty certifications preferred.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of ultrasound experience preferred.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic, community health center, or FQHC preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of ultrasound imaging principles and anatomy.
- Ability to obtain diagnostic-quality images independently.
- Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
- Experience using Electronic Health Records (eCW experience preferred).
- Bilingual preferred.
- Strong commitment to cultural sensitivity and patient-centered care.
Pay: $2,196.76 - $2,645.56 per week
