Branch Manager – Nursery Operations
Location: Arkansas
Full-Time | Leadership Role
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Branch Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our nursery location in Arkansas. This role is ideal for a strong operational leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is equally comfortable managing people, overseeing inventory, supporting sales, maintaining facilities, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
The Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall success of the branch, including operations, staff leadership, inventory management, facility upkeep, customer satisfaction, and supporting revenue growth. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring someone who leads by example and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves.
Weekend availability, including some Saturdays, is required.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Operations Leadership
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursery branch to ensure smooth, efficient business performance
- Open and close the facility as needed
- Serve as the primary operational leader in the absence of senior management
- Ensure branch policies, procedures, and operational standards are consistently followed
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions
Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise, support, and help develop branch employees
- Provide direction, coaching, and accountability to staff
- Assist with scheduling and workforce coordination to ensure proper branch coverage
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on service and efficiency
Inventory, Purchasing & Vendor Management
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain proper stock availability
- Assist with purchasing decisions, product replenishment, and special-order coordination
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate drop shipments when appropriate
- Conduct periodic cycle counts and assist with physical inventory processes
- Monitor spoilage, inventory variances, and stock accuracy
- Support pricing oversight and margin management objectives
Delivery & Logistics Coordination
- Manage delivery scheduling and dispatch coordination
- Ensure deliveries are loaded accurately, safely, and on time
- Follow up with customers to confirm satisfaction and successful completion
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve delivery or fulfillment issues
Facility, Equipment & Nursery Maintenance
- Oversee cleanliness, organization, and overall branch presentation
- Ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are properly maintained and safely operated
- Maintain service and maintenance records for company vehicles and equipment
- Develop working knowledge of irrigation systems and oversee daily plant watering and plant health maintenance
- Support general nursery upkeep and operational readiness
Sales & Customer Service
- Support customer sales transactions and relationship-building efforts
- Assist customers with product selection, estimates, bids, and job coordination
- Help identify opportunities to increase branch sales and customer retention
- Ensure a high level of customer service and problem resolution
Qualifications
- Previous leadership or management experience in nursery operations, landscaping supply, garden center, agriculture, construction materials, or a similar operational environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making capability
- Experience with inventory management, purchasing, logistics, or branch operations preferred
- Customer service and sales support experience preferred
- Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in an operational environment
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
- Ability to work some Saturdays as business needs require
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, nursery maintenance, or horticultural operations
- Experience managing deliveries, fleet/equipment maintenance, or vendor coordination
- Familiarity with inventory systems and margin management
