Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. Duties
- Assist dentists with complex procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing advanced chairside assisting techniques.
- Perform expanded functions such as placing temporary restorations, applying sealants, and taking impressions using a 3D scanner.
- Operate and maintain dental equipment including X-ray machines, digital radiography systems, and medical imaging tools while ensuring proper sterilization and infection prevention management.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft to accurately document patient information, medical history, and treatment plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Take and develop dental X-rays ensuring high-quality images for diagnosis while practicing strict aseptic techniques.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient communications efficiently.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times while ensuring infection control protocols are rigorously followed across all procedures.
- Assist with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and maintaining a clean clinical environment aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Collaborate seamlessly with team members through four-handed dentistry practices to enhance patient comfort and procedural efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in expanded functions within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings.
- Willingness to learn new things.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft similar platforms for medical documentation is preferred but not necessary.
- Certification in dental radiography (dental x-ray) and X-ray safety protocols required.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures essential for maintaining clinical hygiene standards.
- Ability to perform oral surgery assistance, endodontic procedures, prosthodontics support, and utilize advanced imaging technologies like 3D scanners confidently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about treatment plans while demonstrating professionalism in handling sensitive medical information.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection control policies combined with a strong commitment to clinical confidentiality policies is essential.
- Prior experience working with pediatric patients is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for working with diverse patient populations is valued highly.
