Job Summary

The Junior FPGA Design Engineer will assist in the design and development of FPGA hardware/firmware.
This individual will be working in a challenging, hands-on, research & development environment supporting NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).
The successful candidates will engage in FPGA design and development of new and evolving solutions for NASA GSFC Sensors, instruments, and their associated advanced flight and ground support systems development.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist with the development of FPGA designs used in advanced flight and ground support systems in support of NASA space flight programs.
Perform FPGA firmware design, simulation using ModelSim and integration of FPGA designs from both Xilinx and Actel FPGAs.
Perform decomposition of FPGA specification into VHDL RTL architectures and module building blocks.
Perform Integration of FPGA designs into a systems environment.
Performing FPGA design functional verification, synthesis, timing verification implementations verification, programming and device in-circuit verification.
Performing lab test on designs and components.
Troubleshooting and improving building block modules.

Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or equivalent years of practical experience.
Experience in FPGA design, simulation, synthesis using VHDL language, ModelSim or Active VHDL simulation.
Experience in FPGA hardware and firmware design, development and testing.
Must be proficient at debugging at the firmware level as well as the system level using standard test equipment.
Must be self-starters who can work independently or in team environments, must be a team player, with the ability to work well with other cross-functional teams (RF, SW, and Manufacturing).
US Citizenship required, must be able to pass a Government background investigation.
