Maintenance Technician
Parkside Condominium, Bethesda, MD
Seeking an entry level Maintenance Technician to learn under the Maintenance Supervisor in operations of this 954-garden style condominium community located in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Maintaining High Level of Customer Service
· Handling all customer service inquiries with courtesy, professionalism and efficiency
· Working collaboratively with all departments toward common goals
2. Maintenance
· Perform all general maintenance repairs such as filter replacements, basic carpentry repairs, floor repairs, electrical repairs, garbage disposal repairs, window glass replacements, bulb replacements, and other related repairs.
· Will perform the physical duties required to correct emergency conditions such as sewer back-ups, water flooding into buildings and apartments, and related incidents. The physical duties not only entail corrective actions but include cleaning up during and after the condition is resolved if such situations take place other than normal working hours. The maintenance tech will do the necessary means to restore the affected area to the same condition that existed prior to the incident.
· Provide written lists of noted deficiencies within the buildings to the building director, such lists outlining specific conditions or situations, exact locations, and recommendations for corrective action.
· Familiarize oneself with all facets of the buildings including the life and safety systems in the buildings. Be acquainted with the boiler room and the various major components of the building system.
· Maintain an inventory of parts most frequently used, monitor and control the use of parts and the purchase of them.
· Knowledge of minor electrical, plumbing and painting.
· Snow/ice clearing and related duties when assigned.
· Comply with safe work practices
3. Assist the General Manager and Maintenance Supervisor as Needed
Skills and Knowledge Requirements for the Position:
1. Effective communication skills interacting with a wide variety of people.
2. Strong customer service skills, actively looking for ways to assist customers and co-workers.
3. Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects.
4. Good practical knowledge of methods, procedures, materials, tools, and equipment used in building maintenance.
5. Some general knowledge in common routine electrical and plumbing repairs.
6. Valid driver’s license and well-maintained vehicle for transportation on site.
7. Safe work practices
Physical and Mental Requirements for the Position: Sufficient physical ability to perform moderate or heavy lifting and carrying, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; sufficient vision ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; hearing in the normal audio range with or without correction; sufficient speech recognition and clarity, including ability to understand speech of customers and co-workers and ability to speak clearly to be understood by customers and co-workers.

Parkside is a large garden-style apartment community bordering Rock Creek Park in Bethesda, MD. We have 954 units within 102 buildings spread over 69 acres, and without any through roadways, the atmosphere is that of a tree-filled enclave—one noted for its simple living and superb location (within walking distance of a Metro station and the world-class Strathmore Music Center, easy access to major interstates, and minutes away from downtown Bethesda just outside the District of Columbia).
