Plan, organize, and direct the overall operations of the Environmental Services department, including housekeeping and laundry services.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate Environmental Services staff to ensure consistent performance and quality standards.
Develop and implement cleaning schedules, policies, and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Conduct routine inspections of resident rooms, common areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control standards are met.
Manage department budget, including labor, supplies, equipment, and chemical inventories.
Order and maintain adequate stock of cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment while controlling costs.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, state health department, and facility infection control guidelines.
Partner with Administration, Nursing, and Maintenance leadership to address facility needs and resident concerns promptly.
Oversee the safe handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with SDS and manufacturer guidelines.
Lead departmental staff meetings, in-services, and ongoing training programs.
Participate in QAPI, survey readiness, and other facility-wide quality improvement initiatives.
Respond to and resolve resident, family, and staff concerns regarding environmental services.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Environmental Services, Housekeeping, or Laundry management, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience required.
Strong knowledge of infection control practices, OSHA standards, and state/federal regulations governing long-term care facilities.
Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment, floor care, and laundry operations.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage budgets, inventories, and staffing schedules effectively.
Proficient in basic computer applications, including email, scheduling, and inventory systems.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, and respond to facility needs as required.
