Old Bridge Parks & Recreation is seeking motivated, patient, and enthusiastic Recreation Instructors who are passionate about working with children and inspiring creativity through hands-on learning.
In this role, instructors will lead dynamic and engaging classes for children ages 3 and up, helping to build foundational skills and confidence through hands-on activities. Classes may include cooking and baking, arts and crafts such as painting and decorating ceramic pieces, as well as creative dance and movement activities designed to enhance coordination and gross motor development.
Instructors are encouraged to bring enthusiasm, creativity, and flexibility to each session while fostering a safe, supportive, and fun learning environment. Successful candidates will plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons, monitor student progress, and adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning styles. This position is ideal for instructors who enjoy working with children, inspiring imagination, and making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and facilitate recreational classes for children ages 3 and up
- Develop lesson plans and hands-on activities that build basic skills and confidence
- Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Supervise students to ensure safety and positive behavior
- Create a welcoming, fun, and engaging environment that encourages participation
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a teaching, coaching, or instructional setting
- Knowledge or experience in crafting, cooking, baking, painting or decorative arts, or movement-based activities
- Ability to be flexible, creative, and upbeat
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- A passion for recreation and youth programming
Position Details
- Pay Rate: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
- Schedule: 5 – 15 hours per week, based upon program enrollment and scheduling.
