The Opportunity
Bauer Sheet Metal & Fabricating, LLC is seeking a high-energy, hunter-profile Business Development Manager focused strictly on raw market expansion and new account acquisition across the Midwest. Since 1932, our Muskegon facility has delivered elite custom metal fabrication, heavy structural layouts, and field installations. Reporting directly to the President, this role bypasses standard day-to-day estimating, allowing you to focus 100% of your energy on hunting new logos, breaking into untapped OEM supply chains, and driving regional revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Midwest Territory Hunting: Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities across industrial, marine, architectural, and manufacturing sectors throughout the Midwest.
- Trade Show Engagement: Travel to major industry trade shows and manufacturing expos to represent the brand, generate leads, and network with decision-makers.
- Pipeline Management: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date documentation of all accounts, leads, and outreach activities within the company CRM.
- Cold Outreach: Initiate contact with procurement managers, engineers, and corporate buyers through aggressive cold calling, digital networking, and face-to-face site visits.
- Strategic Qualification: Uncover customer pain points, confirm project fit, and capture the structural scope of work before handing details off to our dedicated internal estimating team.
- Executive Collaboration: Work closely with the President to align territory growth plans with overall company capacity and strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years of proven success in a pure hunter/outside sales role specifically within custom metal fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or industrial services.
- CRM Proficiency: Adept at utilizing CRM software to track pipelines, log communications, and manage multi-state accounts efficiently.
- Territory Management: Proven track record of managing and expanding a multi-state Midwest territory.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated ability to open doors, bypass gatekeepers, and successfully onboard totally brand-new enterprise accounts.
- Industrial Literacy: Broad understanding of fabrication capabilities, welding, and structural materials to confidently pitch to engineers and buyers.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Midwest for customer visits and industry trade shows. [1, 2]
Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
