Ideal candidate is a highly dependable Behaviorist/Aide/Companion with experience working with Autistic individuals (experience with adults is preferable). The client is 26 years old. This is a part time position based on a somewhat temp or on call situation. We are from California, and will be spending time in Miami over the next few years. We are looking for a fun, lively, fun loving person to hang out with our 26 yr old young man who is on the Autism Spectrum. He's a really charming young man who is interested in trains, buses, music, meeting people and restaurants. He loves riding public transportation. He does require 1:1 attention to safety as he is not really safety aware enough to be out in the community on his own. He is very verbal but largely on his own preferred topics and while he can communicate needs, it is not always clear and not necessarily to a problem solver or someone who can address his needs.
Candidate must be capable/experienced in community outings/transportation and safety and accustomed to or comfortable traveling in and around Miami. Please be able to fill in creative fun plans in situations where we don't have other plans in the schedule. We are looking for someone fun, energetic, outgoing and excited to spend time with a really fun/funny guy.
The position is also private pay/Self-Determination Program. We are not working through an agency or with insurance.
Client participates in a full, rich schedule of a part time job at a gym, workouts, social groups, training, volunteer opportunities, fun and social activities at home in California. We are looking to encourage independence and self management. During times when we are visiting in Miami or spending a few weeks at a time over the next several years, we would like to set up a similar situation of activities, social groups and volunteering as well as fun outings.
