Uniquely Me Creative Arts (UMCA), a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is seeking motivated Nonprofit Operations Interns for Fall 2026.
This internship provides undergraduate and graduate students with hands-on professional experience across several areas of nonprofit management, including community outreach, media and communications, grant research, fundraising, event planning, program development, administrative operations, and family engagement.
Interns will work on meaningful projects based on their skills, academic interests, and UMCA's organizational needs.
Internship AreasMedia & Communications
Interns may assist with:
- Creating content for social media platforms
- Developing flyers, newsletters, emails, and promotional materials
- Supporting UMCA's social media presence
- Taking photos and videos at programs and events
- Organizing digital media and program content
- Promoting UMCA programs, events, and fundraising campaigns
Community Outreach & Partnerships
Interns may assist with:
- Conducting outreach to schools, businesses, nonprofits, elected officials, community organizations, and potential partners
- Making professional outreach calls and sending emails
- Researching potential community partnerships
- Maintaining outreach and contact databases
- Following up with vendors, sponsors, families, and community partners
- Promoting UMCA programs throughout the community
Grants & Fundraising
Interns may assist with:
- Researching local, state, federal, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities
- Identifying foundations, corporations, and other potential funding sources
- Maintaining UMCA's grant tracking system
- Gathering information and supporting documents for grant applications
- Assisting with grant narratives and application preparation
- Researching prospective corporate sponsors and donors
- Supporting fundraising campaigns and donor outreach
- Maintaining fundraising and sponsorship records
Programs & Events
Interns may assist with:
- Planning UMCA programs, workshops, fundraisers, and community events
- Coordinating event logistics
- Preparing program materials and supplies
- Supporting participant registration
- Communicating with families, volunteers, vendors, and partners
- Providing on-site support during programs and events
- Collecting program participation and feedback information
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Have an interest in nonprofit management, business, communications, marketing, media, grant writing, fundraising, education, social work, psychology, public administration, project management, or a related field
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be organized, dependable, and able to meet deadlines
- Be comfortable communicating professionally by phone and email
- Have basic proficiency with Google Workspace or similar productivity tools
- Be willing to learn, accept feedback, and take initiative
- Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with families, community partners, staff, and other stakeholders
- Have an interest in community-based and family-centered work
Previous nonprofit experience is not required.
