Job Overview
DFW Sheetmetal is an HVAC sheet metal fabrication shop based in Haltom City, TX, fabricating quality ductwork and sheet metal for general contractors and HVACR clients across the DFW area. We're hiring a Production/Fabrication Manager to run the front end of our shop — estimating and takeoffs on the way in, scheduling and job release on the way out to the floor.
This is a hands-on working manager role. You'll do takeoffs yourself, plan and release the work, and lead a team of 6–7 people. You're the link between what we bid and what we build, which makes this one of the most important roles in the building. Duties
- Perform takeoffs and prepare accurate, competitive estimates for HVAC sheet metal and ductwork jobs
- Review plans, specs, and shop drawings to scope material, labor, and timeline
- Release jobs to the shop floor and build the production schedule so work flows on time
- Coordinate daily between estimating, fabrication, and general contractor/HVACR clients
- Supervise, assign, and develop a crew of 6–7 employees
- Track jobs against the bid to protect margins and flag overages early
- Manage material needs and timing so the floor never waits on stock
- Keep job files, records, and production reporting organized and current
Skills
- 3+ years in HVAC sheet metal or ductwork, with hands-on estimating/takeoff experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specs
- Prior supervisory or lead experience, or clear readiness to step into it
- Strong organization and the ability to juggle multiple jobs at once
- Comfortable with estimating/scheduling software and basic spreadsheets
- Experience with Autodesk Fabrication (CAMduct/ESTmep), Revit, or AutoCAD (a plus)
- Knowledge of SMACNA standards (a plus)
