This is a union bargaining-unit position responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC horizontal and vertical mills to produce precision-machined parts to blueprint and GD&T specifications. The Mechanic works under the applicable collective bargaining agreement and is expected to perform all essential duties safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Set up and run CNC horizontal and vertical mills, as well as boring mills, to produce parts meeting print and quality requirements.

Read and interpret blueprints and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.

Perform some editing of G-code and M-code programs at the machine control to adjust offsets, tooling, and cutting parameters.

Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and work-holding for horizontal, vertical, and boring mill operations.

Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.

Demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a clean, organized work area at all times.

Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Two or more years of CNC experience, preferably on horizontal and vertical mills and/or boring mills.

Experience with basic computer systems.

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
